Title: Discussion 10
As we age our brain’s functionality decreases. For example, memory loss where an elderly adult
cannot remember even the names of family members.
Dementia is a condition where the brain cells are damaged. As a result, an individual suffering
from this condition is unable to perform a simple task such as washing utensils, washing clothes
and cooking making them entirely dependent on caregivers.
Dementia is not a necessary part of the aging process. Dementia is caused by the disintegration
of the human brain because of injury or severe infections. Alzheimer Disease is not a
characteristic of the late hood. Any individual can suffer from Alzheimer Disease irrespective of
age. Alzheimer Disease causes dementia which is most common in old people.
