AUDIT 2
The relevance of Alcohol Use Disorders Identification is realized after screening for
hazardous consumption of alcohol. It offers a framework for helping individuals with alcohol
use to either reduce or cease consumption and thereby avoid harmful consequences of
alcohol. Among the three AOD interventional learned in this course, AUDIT is the best
intervention for identifying alcohol dependence and particular repercussions that result from
harmful drinking. It cannot only be used for healthcare practitioners or health settings, but
non-health professionals can also employ it.
The AUDIT can be administered as an oral interview or self-report
questionnaire. Each method has its own benefits and challenges that should be weighed in
light of time and constraints. The relative benefits of using the AUDIT as a self-report
questionnaire or interview should be evaluated by determining the patient’s cognitive abilities
and cooperation level. A questionnaire can be referred to if the provider will offer brief
advice to the patient who screens positive and referring other severer cases to other services.
Interviews, on the other hand, can be used if the primary care providers are to manage all the
care required by the patients for hazardous alcohol consumption. While reflecting on the
AUDIT resources, several relative benefits can be realized using either of the two

consuming and are easy to administer to clients. They can be administered through computers
and may produce more accurate answers. On the other hand, interviews allow clarification of
ambiguous answers and can be administered to clients who do not have apt reading skills.
Also, Interviews allow seamless feedback to patients, and providers can initiate brief advice.
For the realization of positive results, that is, behavior change; healthcare practitioners
should decide the services to provide to patients who test positive. After a positive case has
been realized, an appropriate intervention should be provided to meet every patient's
individual needs. AUDIT screening primarily screens cases of alcohol dependence, which
