USER MANAGEMENT AUTOMATION
2
User management is the ability to control access to various information
technology systems such as networks, applications, devices, servers, storage devices,
and other software components. User management is a crucial role for administrators
because they have to control who can or cannot access various IT entities. It also
plays the role of ensuring that system users take responsibility for any actions that
they undertake while operating software, systems, or networks (Lujan, 2019). User
management prevents access to highly privileged systems to regular users and shields
users from systems that they are not allowed to operate. Traditionally, the
administrators were responsible for manually managing the users. However, as
technology advances, automation of the process is now possible. Some of the popular
software used to automate user management encompasses Solar wind and Autodesk.
Solarwind is a graphical tool that helps visualize all users and their permissions while
offering automatic account access management (Solarwind, 2020). Autodesk is also a
graphical tool that allows administrators access to remote nodes and can set various
access levels and permissions.
