When implementing change in an organization, there are always culture issues that are
faced, such as not accepting change, determine how differently this would be handled
thinking about the management versus leadership constructs?
Today’s workplace is very diverse, and this means we have to be sensitive to other
cultures. Working on the global level needs a solution to overcome the challenges brought about
by diversity (Brown, 2017). Through leadership and management, a company has the power to
ensure changes take place. Those who are usually against changes bring some difficulties in the
organization in general. However, whatever is good and necessary for the organization should
find its way. Management and leadership can ensure such changes are implemented by doing the
following:
Firstly is making diversity fun. This can be achieved by offering employees
opportunities to peacefully socialize. This ensures that they learn more about one another and
bring their ideas together. Fun activities that bring together employees include organized picnics,
football games and other company-sponsored games.
Secondly is ensuring openness and collaboration. There should be an open-door policy in
place to ensure that employees are able to address their issues without any fear and irrespective
of their cultures. Employees should also be allowed to participate in teams actively, and group
assignments as this gives them a sense of belonging.
Lastly, leadership and management should ensure commitment and accountability. The
total commitment of the management is key to achieving success and solving culture-related
issues. Managers should be accountable by ensuring they are the role models to employees and
ensure fair treatment of all employees.
