Executive Summary

Volkswagen in a German car manufacturing company which was caught up in a scandal

in the year 2015 (He, 2018).The report analyses the background of the issues that caused this

situation using various literature to back the claims. More so, the paper analyses the problems

that the company encountered and possible alternatives for how the Volkswagen Company could

avoid such issues. More so, the paper provides recommendations for the company. The problem

that Volkswagen encountered resulted from the greed to maximize profits, unethical corporate

culture, poor corporate governance and irresponsible management.

The report recommends various alternatives that could be utilized to correct the situation.

Currently, Volkswagen is suffering from severe legal and financial harm that threatens the

survival of the firm in the long run. Therefore, the firm needs to start Balancing the Profit

Making Objective with Corporate Social Responsibility. Otherwise, it would increase the profits

at the expense of harming the customers and the environment in general. The company should

also Change business culture to ensure it’s more accommodative to the employees and Corporate

Social Responsibility requirements. More so, the firm should change the corporate structure by

even hiring managers who are responsible and trustworthy. The management should offer direct

supervision to all the junior workers to ensure every action they undertake aligns with the

objectives of the company.
