Introduction
Social problems are the social conditions responsible for disrupting or damaging society, such as
crimes, domestic violence, racism, rape cases. In other words, a social problem refers to any
condition that hurts a large number of people. Social issues are recognized as a condition that
needs to be addressed with an immediate effect. For example, the coronavirus outbreak is an
example of a social problem that has brought negative consequences to the people of America
since its first case was reported in the country. The impact that coronavirus has brought in the
country is very disastrous, even across the world (World Health Organization, 2020). For
example, the coronavirus outbreak has affected the health sector and affects the economy to
drop. As a result, the American population is suffering. Most of the people affected by the
pandemic are low-income and middle-income families.
Additionally, the number of social problems facing these families has been increasing since the
outbreak of COVID-19. For instance, the families have been faced with the issue of domestic
violence, incidences of child abuse, early pregnancies, depression among the American
population that cannot cope with the heat brought by the pandemic and crimes. Therefore, there
has been a great need for social work services from social service agencies in the entire
community. Social service Agencies are either private or governmental bodies that provide
services to the community in helping to mitigate some social issues. The social service agencies
offer social work in the facilitation of need assistance and support to individuals, communities,
and societies.
Regarding COVID-19, social issues are surging every day, calling for assistance from social
workers. I believe that when more social workers are incorporated through social service
agencies, the effects of COVID-19 will be minimized; therefore, reducing the causes of social
