Juvenile Delinquency
Juvenile delinquency refers to the acts of criminal offenses committed by young people,
especially under the age at which criminal offenses prosecution is possible. Social-economic
differences in society are mostly the cause of juvenile delinquency. Most young people,
especially in developing countries, engage in these criminal offenses. This paper aims at looking
at the state and causes of Juvenile delinquency.
Poverty is one of the significant economic factors that have increased juvenile
delinquency in society today. Many families lack enough finance to support their children in
education. These youngsters end up seeking employment at an early age. The young employed
are mostly the ones who are engaged in these criminal activities since they have many desires for
unsatisfied gaps. To satisfy their desires, these young people end up turning into illegal activities
to fulfill their desires.
Family background is one of the social causes of juvenile delinquency. When family ties
in a family are destroyed, the mutual relationship among family members is also weakened or
broken entirely. The love that existed between parents and children even fades off. Most children
end up running away from home and fall into criminal activities. Also, the continuous scolding
of children by parents without genuine reasons has dramatically resulted in juvenile delinquency.
When parents keep on scolding the children, the same children start developing hatred towards
the parents, making them run away and fall into criminal activities.
Defective recreation is another form of juvenile social delinquency. Today, mobile
phones, especially smartphones, are vital recreation gadgets provided to children by their
parents. Most parents offer mobile phones to their children to help them learn. The children,
