Social media platforms are continuously growing as effective communication tools.
Communication is very key in business. Various organizations have adopted and embraced the
use of social media platforms like Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram for relaying purposeful
information. In today's world where much time is spent online, human resources and other
departments should make full utilization of this to effectively relay purposeful information. This
paper shades light on various ways in which human resource can use social media for effective
communication.
Social media has played a key role in employee communication. Before social media was
realized, human resource managers communicated to the employees and superiors through
personal meetings, memos, interoffice mails, or emails. Changes in operational, policy or
corporate structure were communicated the same way. Thanks to social media for bringing an
end to the individual meetings where one had to travel to do something that nowadays is done
with a single tweet or even a Facebook update showing great enhancements in the corporate
communication process.
Social media greatly influences organizations and human resource to reach their targets/
goals. Business leverages social media to reach audiences targeted for job posts, transfers or
vacancies. Human resource managers use social media to market/advertise their organization and
look for resources to increase their expertise.
Social media has become the voice of human resources. Back when social media was
rarely used, organizations relied on; suggestion boxes, closed room suggestions, and employee
hotlines to receive feedback on general welfare and issues in the organization which turned to be
