During the time that I spent within the workshop class, there was a lot that I got to
learned. Moreover, this also aided me in some strong personal development as well. Within the
workshop, I got to know other group members better, so that made me more comfortable.
However, in order to get to that place of comfort, I first needed to step out of my own comfort
zone. This was done, through getting to know each other by sharing personal stories. As a result
of this, it helped us as a group to feel more connected. Furthermore, within our team, we would
demonstrate strong group connections as well. For example: when one person in the team would
bring up a topic in relation to our discussion, such as past experiences in groups they have had,
others could easily relation to them. Throughout the workshop, we have also learned about
symbolic identity and focusing on identity.
Now, within the group experiences that I had, there were things that resonated with me
that are both positive and negative. However, they not only helped me to develop myself, but
they also challenged the way that I do teamwork and groupwork in the future. Getting to know
our group members in the first workshop class was a great way for us to feel more comfortable
with each other, and the sharing personal experiences allowed our group to feel more connected.
However, through the workshop, I was also encouraged to do the following: think back on my
past experiences and assess where I am today, and dig deeper, to discover the core values that
were challenging to me at first. These are two factors that not only tie into the workshop that I
did, but they also tie into professional development as emerging leaders as well.
When it comes to past experiences, everyone makes mistakes at some point in their life,
but they need to be forgiven. At the same time, though, people need to learn that there are
consequences for their actions. This is an example of what one must face when they asses the
negative events of their past that were caused by their own behavior. Now in the workshop, I
