The Journey through the origin of Childhood Autism.
Whereas there is not one single conception given to the term of Childhood Autism, it can be
described as a neuro-developmental disorder present among children that can affect and restrict
their cognitive and behavioral development, such as their communicative capacities and interactive
styles (Sharif, Bughaigis, Kariem, and Mohamed, 2016)
As much information is progressively being released regarding this condition, there are common
misconceptions that still surround it, which are difficult to eradicate due to the poor awareness
regarding mental health and the social stigma around individuals with psychological
inconveniences like Autism, especially when the manifestations of these conditions are related to
a diminution of social interaction and require a delicate job in terms of progressing in both the
verbal and behavioral habits (Draaisma, 2009). Even so, these inaccurate social representations of
Childhood Autism can also include some personal considerations like the causes of Childhood
Autism to be mostly related to drug abuse during pregnancy as one of the major factors
(Zwaigenbaum, Szatmari, Jones, Bryson, Maclean, Mahoney, Bartolucci, and Tuff, 2002), and the
consideration that most of the behavioral patterns related to children with ASD are characterized
by passiveness.
Among the repercussions that can come from Autism, social and cognitive restrictions are among
the most damaging ones for children since they are still developing most of these types of functions
which allow them to interact with their surroundings, meaning it's likely for them to have more
difficulties in terms of learning and maintain different strategies that lead them to not only
communicate with others but to also understand their condition, it’s likely for children to have
more difficulties in terms of learning and maintain different strategies that lead them to not only
communicate with others but to also understand their condition. Similarly, if not emphasized
enough the importance of understanding how Childhood Autism is originated, then all the
approaches made to successfully look for treatment choices will not be sufficient, limiting
considerably the chances of children to avoid some common symptoms of their conditions such as
outbursts coming from such incapability to being able to communicate or to be understood which
can lead to significant stress, depression, and anxiety; as well as the repetitive behavior such as

head-banging, slapping or biting that can lead to self-harm (Yorke, White, Weston, Rafla,
Charman, and Simonoff, 2018). Additionally, understanding the causes of Childhood Autism can
also improve the chances of creating preventive measures for those environmental or external
elements concurrently related to ASD.
Initially, it is worth recognizing that, rather of existing a single cause for the development of
Childhood Autism, there are a series of factors that are thought to contribute to its occurrence.
Genetics is the most predominant intervening element reviewed on scientific research, and it has
been confirmed its fundamental influence and critical role for ASD, mostly because of the
execution of case studies, like that of Folstein and Rutter (1977) in identical twins with Autism, as
well as the many replications for this experiment that had taken place over the years; followed up
by several experimental research methods, such as those displayed by Curatolo, Napolioni, and
Moavero (2010), and Krueger and Bear (2011) in which they reflect, respectively, the
commonality between the presence of the Fragile X and tuberous sclerosis syndromes, and the
existence of Autism Spectrum Disorder, which express basically how abnormal mRNA
translations that occasion an augmented synthesis of proteins is related to Autism. Subsequently,
correlational research methods like the one of Zwaigenbaum, Szatmari, Jones, et al. (2002) show
that prenatal inconveniences like drug substances, infections, or exposure to toxic materials are
presented in a higher rate for Childhood Autism cases though these are to directly related; Szatmari
(2003) indicates epilepsy and dysmorphic aspects are also an intermediate variable, and surveys
research methods like the one of Fombonne (1999) states that a small proportion of Childhood
Autism cases reflect the presence of CNS comorbid disorders. Although the MMR vaccines were
considered at some point as one probable cause for ASD, later examinations and statements
delivered by the National Institute of Child Health and Human Development (2001).
All the aspects mentioned so far allow the reader to have a fuller apprehension of the topics
regarding Childhood Autism; nevertheless, they do not provide a unique and effortless response
to the major question regarding a definite cause for this condition. This important, yet possible to
overcome an obstacle, relies on the fact that Childhood Autism and, overall Autism Spectrum
Disorder comes as a result of unpredictable inherent factors in which humans have no control over,
which makes a phenomenon difficult to predict and measure, for which the scientific domain sets
