INVESTIGATE TERRORIST THREATS ON A GLOBAL PERSPECTIVE 2
Investigate Terrorist Threats on a Global Perspective
In the recent times, the terrorist activities have increased around the world. It has become
necessary for the armed forces and the government to curb all their activities. In my opinion this
is because every day there is new advancements, when it comes to technology, and it is easier for
terrorist, whether it is a lone wolf or a group have access to so much more than they did in the past.
However, for different needs, terrorist groups keep on targeting different regions of the nation. The
terrorist groups are at domestic and at international level (Bell et al., 2014). There are groups
identified for each of these categories. For domestic level, there is a domestic terrorist group of
Naxalites in India and on the other hand, there is an international terrorist group Al-Qaeda that is
operating from Pakistan and Afghanistan (Condit, 2015).
The similarities between both the groups are they are targeting the Indian population and
several regions of India. Their approach to attacks is similar, and they do have large groups of
individuals that are ready for such terrorist attacks. The difference, however, is in the usage of
technologies, ways of infiltration, and in the intensity of the attack. If one reviews the terrorist
activities of Naxalites, their scope of attacking ranges in the regions of Orissa and Andhra Pradesh
(Corlett, 1996). Also, they do not possess state-of-the-art technologies to carry out such attacks.
Contrary, the attacks of the Al-Qaeda have been severe, and they have already attacked the
Sansad Bhawan, the Swami Narayan Temple, and other several places in India. Their approach to
attack is different and with the help of sleeper cells. There are also suicide bombers available in
their team. Further, they deploy the latest technologies and constantly communicate while carrying
out the attacks (Deutch, 1997).
