MY THOUGHTS ON CHAPTER 9 AND 10
Chapter 9
From the ninth chapter, we learn about task orientation issues directly related to different
activities within a classroom scenario. As a teacher, one should ensure that the tasks assigned to
the students are within their perception levels. The experienced I have gained in my placement
includes, the tasks should also be related to the classroom content learned, and they should be
used to understand how much content has been gained by the learners throughout the duration. A
problem I have experienced as a teacher during the transition is that the more time dedicated to
teaching content and practice, the more successful the task is performed.
Another problem is the engagement between the teacher, student, and content is a great
concern. This includes developing relevant teaching-learning material that promotes retention of
knowledge. During by placement I have understood that an effective teacher should consider
dividing different learning materials into smaller chunks that are understandable by students.
During my placement, the teacher should be more concerned with the introduction phase by
setting an effective environment within the class that psychologically and physically prepares the
students for a potential topic.
Chapter 10
My thoughts are that engagement in the learning process is the degree to which the
learners are interested, optimistic, and curious to learn the content or understand what is
currently being taught. Therefore it’s basically the level of motivation that is based on traits like
cognitive, emotional, and behavioral engagement. Therefore teachers should consider engaging
