Should Learning Institutions allow the use of smartphones?
The rate of technological advancement has surpassed the rate at which people care about
the use has evolved. Indeed, the issue on the use of a smartphone in an academic institution is the
topic of choice. To the central opinion of many schools going people, I oppose the fact that the
use of a smartphone in schools should be allowed. Without any doubt, smartphones are part and
parcel of the latest technological advances that have had a massive impact on the current ability
of human being to solve the current challenges they experience and among other services.
Smartphones are linked with multitasking which their use in schools it is attributed to, and this
brings in the controversy.
Should Learning Institutions allow the use of smartphones?
Argument One
Principle 1: If the use of a smartphone in academic institution decreases the learner’s
concentration in the studies, then smartphones should not be allowed.
Principle 2: In a scenario of incoming calls and messages alerts, the student’s
concentration when its class time is divided hence suspending the use of smartphones will save
the learner’s academic performance (Kwun et al., 2015).
Conclusion; Smartphones are not allowed to be owned by learners in school.
Argument Two
Principle 1: If by any chance the student’s performance is noted to lower, then it can be
attributed to the use of smartphones. This is because they lower the student’s concentration and
therefore it should not be allowed in school.
