Four best or recommended approaches and tools for database recovery

Organization or enterprise’s data is the most crucial resource for the company and there is need to

protect it. Data backup and recovery acts as insurance for the said Data. There comes a time when

the backup data is also lost and or become deleted, during that time Database recovery acts to

restore the required data and thus restoring the enterprise's business process to a norm.

There are various approaches one as a database admin can undertake to ensure that the database is

fully recovered. Each depends on the importance of the data to be recovered, the amount of data

to be recovered among other factors. This is known as recovery model for database model which

applies depending on type of database, which is whether a SQL SERVER database is for

production or small-scale usage. Depending on that many model or approaches can be used.

The first approach is simple recovery mode, this applies to a database that is intended for small

production use. In small production, the recovery goal and requirements are not such requiring and

thus the recovery mode. Another approach is full Recovery model which is used bulk-logged

recovery usages where the recovery requirements and goals are critical to business operations.

During this, the operation must be able to recover all the data and be able to restore every item.

(Sirkin, 2017)

Other approaches include establishing a well-defined database recovery strategy similar to disaster

recovery. This will enable one to be able to recover all the required data and for a full restoration

to occur.

Finally, on database recovery is an appropriate software that will enable a smooth process during

the recovery process. Having a SQL recovery tool one can be able to get data from the corrupted

MDF files and thus recovering the whole database system.
