THE AMERICAN CIVIL WAR (1861-1865)
The Civil War which is referred to War of States took place during 1861 to1865. It
was caused by obdurate differences between the gratis and the slave states of South and
North of the USA (Rhodes 2012). The paper will discuss the advantages for national
development for more stable central government after the war, its necessity for national
development, and provides for reasons and results for civil war.
Importance of development of a strong central national government after Civil War
For economic, military, and political stability, central governance was vital because the
newly created state had to function as a single sovereignty. Prior to civil war, the states were
functioning singularly without coordination which led to a conglomeration of policies that
were viewed important for a state according to its residential cultures (Du Bois 2017). It led
to self owned policies without national coordination since there was no obligation to one
another given diverse interests for each state. National coordination was a major tool in
nationalism in the USA after the civil war. Thus, it was an important aspect for the unity of a
nation to first realize its mistakes and incorporate every culture and color in its formation of a
new national strong central government (Du Bois 2017).

Development of central government was an important piece of assignment that every
American had to approve after the civil war. It was an important aspect that was a blueprint to

establishing a strong national reconciliation that would help to prevent states from seceding
the USA and help in formation of a stabilized country. Slavery was abolished in totality and
constitution uphold as the supremacy body (Rhodes 2012). It was in the respect of
constitution that Thirteenth Amendment (1865) and constitution supreme Fourteenth
Amendment (1968). To enhance equity and fairness in election, there was an introduction of
Fifteenth Amendment (1870) that allowed for the liberated slaves to vote and be elected to
political offices. It was in the spirit of nationalism and democratic rights that every citizen
had a right to vote and elect their leaders thus minimized extensive national chaotic that was
dividing the nation in to the Southern and Northern states (Du Bois 2017).
Reasons and Outcomes of Civil War
Ideological differences between the North and South were the major cause of war in the USA
due to slavery issue. Southern states relied heavily on the enslaved Africans to provide for
the manpower, but the Northern states were more advanced in terms of industrial
development. Because of its industrial advancement, Northern States had a belief that slavery
should be illegalized in every Sates but Southern States depended on the slavery to advance
its states (Rhodes 2012). It led to introduction of a slavery clause in the States which
prohibited slavery and demanded federal sway to prevent the slaves from being forced to
forced works. This therefore staged for economic and political differences that called for
secession by pro-slave states from anti- slavery activists’ states because of diverged opinion
about humanity.
Conclusion
National development and restructuring the States to a unified States of America was a major
step in advancing democracy and upholding constitutionalism after the Civil war. If the war
