Community health concerns

Health is very important to everyone in the world right now. Every community tries all it

can to make sure that all its members are safe. However, not all health problems are addressed by

the community plans developed. The health conditions are mostly occurrences that are considered

to be normal, although they pose risks to many people in society (Puri, 2019). In this paper, I will

be discussing two primary health concerns that have not been addressed in my community, which

is Houston in Texas. The health problems pose many risks which are usually ignored by most

people until its too late. The burden then falls on the hands of the medical practitioners who usually

have a hard time. This is usually because e the condition is usually at a very crucial state.

My area of residence is seen to have several health concern issues that need to be addressed.

The first one is the use of drugs and substance abuse. Use of drugs, especially tobacco is the biggest

health issue being faced by my community. Many people are using the drug and are slowly getting

addicted. The worst part is that most of the users of tobacco are the young productive people who

are the future of tomorrow (Puri, 2019). The government should, therefore intervene and help the

young people. Most of the young people who are using tobacco are turning to the drug due to lack

of employment opportunities. Another drug used in my community is alcohol. Alcohol is widely

abused here by people of all ages. Again, the youth are at the front line since they form the majority

of the people who use the drug. The use of these two drugs has brought about a lot of health

concerns. Most addicts face health problems and fail to get any form of treatment, thus worsening

the situation.

The second health concern that needs to be addressed in my area is a chronic illness. The

chronic illnesses in my area are mainly caused as a result of obesity (Wadden & Bray, 2019).

Obesity has become a very common occurrence, and it has been found to affect very many people.
