WEEK4: CRISIS INTERVENTION MODELS 2
Specific systematic crises chosen
The two systematic crises chosen in this paper are natural disasters and human-made
disasters. The two types of disasters may lead to an interruption of people’s normal life and may
last for several days or weeks. Whether they are caused by natural factors or human factors it
leads to loss of property or lives. Natural disasters include hurricanes, earthquakes, or floods
which leads to large amounts of loss and they also contribute to dislocation of people from their
homes. Man-made disasters involve wars and terrorism activities that leads to destruction of
towns and loss of many lives of innocent persons. Human-made and natural disasters are much
devastating and therefore, disaster intervention and management strategies are required to bring
back normal life. The strategies are needed because most of these calamities are hard to be
stopped and the losses incurred are not easy to recover and also getting back to normal life
requires a lot of effort and time (Crawford,2018).
Differences, similarities and conclusion on the two crises
The first difference is that natural disasters are caused by natural factors while human-man
disasters are contributed by people. Second, man-made disasters like terrorist attacks causes more
deaths than natural disasters. Third, natural disasters may have a prior warning and people may
get some time to move away from the occurrence of the disaster while human-made disasters do
not have a prior warning. First similarity is that both types of disasters can be very devastating.
Secondly, in both types of disasters persons are aware of the effects that may be caused by each
type. Third, natural disasters like floods and human-made disasters like terrorism can wipe out all
cities and leave people with no places to dwell on.
In conclusion, based on the above discussion it is clear that both natural and man-made
disasters can lead to a lot of traumatized. Bring back normal life for both cases in not easy task
