ASSESSMENT CASE STUDY
Assessment Case Study
Introduction
The child being assessed is Anna Smith, who was born on January 3, 2010. Her parents
are Joseph and Catherine Smith. Some of the areas that will be covered include assessment
observation, both long-term and short-term goals as well as child observations. It is worth noting
that the assessment helps teachers to understand children and hence teach them better
(Jaruszewicz, 2013). The short term and long-term goals are provided to assist Anna in achieving
better academic performance. During the time of the assessment, Anna was aged four years.
Assessment Observation
Some of the observations made include that her hand and finer skills are well developed.
For instance, she is able to copy geometric patterns such as triangles effectively. Additionally,
she is able to dress and undress without being assisted by anyone, and she is able to take care of
her own toilet needs. Her finger and hand skills are well advanced since she can comfortably use
a spoon and a fork and also print some letters of the alphabet such as “a, s, n, t, r, l, m.”
Child Observations
Some of the strengths for Anna smith during are development include that are social
skills are well developed. Based on the assessment data, she recognizes the need for friends and
does things to please them. She also shows independence in her behavior and likes acting,
singing, and dancing. Her strength in social skills is also evident in how she always plays with
other children and also enter center groups without any challenges. Additionally, her excellent
social skills are evident in that she always shows engagement at centers, and at times, she uses
verbal communication when playing with others.
