The Impacts and Burdens of the Emerging Technologies
Technology is a constituent of human existence that ceaselessly evolves daily, and
according to generations. Notably, various generations have approached technology differently,
and a result, technology has impacted their lives differently. However, young generations, in
particular, have incessantly expressed their high levels of impatience with their predecessors, who
have been sluggish in integrating innovative technologies into their daily endeavors, by
formulating labyrinthine systems. This has made their predecessors wonder why their successors
as so eager to subsume such raw technologies. In today's world, people are increasingly using
complex technologies in communicating gathering information, solving problems that are relevant
to their workplaces, checking bank balances, participating in online forums, among other activities.
This means that the use of emerging technologies has been part and parcel of our daily lives.
This paper will seek to define the emerging technologies that are mentioned in Benbya et
al., 2020's article, which are robotic process automation, digital business platforms, Internet of
Things, global digital infrastructure, algorithmic decision making systems and social media
(Benbya et al., 2020). Also, this paper meticulously analyzes how these emerging technologies
have impacted various organization and the steps that organizations need to take to reduce
digitalization's impact.
The emerging technologies that are mentioned in the article are as defined as follows:
Global Digital Infrastructure. It is also known as cloud computing. It refers to the use of a
network of remote servers whose hosting is usually done on the internet, in processing, storing and
managing data, instead of using either personal computers or local servers.
Social media. Refers to a computer-based technology, which makes it easier for ideas, thoughts
and other types of information to be shared through the use of virtual networks and communities.
