Memorandum
TO: The health faculty
FROM: Director
DATE: 7

SUBJECT: Balanced Scorecard for Heath Care at Mercy Hospital
I'm writing to provide you with a detailed report of the balanced scorecard for health care
at the Mercy hospital. The named report provided sufficient feedback on the process involved in
the provision of healthcare within the hospital. An analysis of the financial sector, stakeholders,
internal process and learning which ensures continuous growth was the main focus of the report
since they constitute the most important issues in strategic planning (Cobbold et. al., 2004).
Quantitative data was the main type of data used in the presentation of information in the report,
specifically discrete data; percentages. Percentages have been widely used in the report to
provide information on key performance indicators and targets. For instance, 95% of the medical
reconciliation on admission within the internal processes has to be attained to ensure processes
are patient-centred, focused on quality and patient safety. Also, less than 7% absenteeism rate
has to be attained to ensure that Mercy hospital brings health and healing to the community and
remains financially stable. A striking feature within the balanced scorecards is that some of the
initiatives are missing in the financial section. This is because finances are intersected with all
other sectors.
