PRESENT SIMPLE TENSE
Present simple is the most used tense. It is used in day by day conversation and also in forming other
tenses.
PRESENT SIMPLE tense is used to show repetition, habit, generalization.
to BE = exist, live, occur, happen, take place
To be verb is a bit different from other verbs, so we will start with it:
Positive form + short form:
I am (I’m)
you are (you’re)
he is (he’s)
she is (she’s)
it is (it’s)
we are (we’re)
you are (you’re)
they are (they’re)
Negative form + short form:
I am not (I'm not)
you are not (you aren't)
he is not (he isn't)
she is not (she isn't)
it is not (it isn't)
we are not (we aren't)
you are not (you aren't)
they are not (they aren't)
Interogative form:
am I ?
are you ?
is he ?
is she ?
is it ?
are we ?
are you ?
are they ?
For the other verbs at the positive form, just add sat the end of the verb if the subject is
„he”, „she” or „it”.
For the other verbs at the negative form, just add „do not” (don't) or „does not” (doesn't).
- „does not” (doesn't) is used if the subject is „he”, „she” or „it” and you do not
add „s” at the end of the verb because the „s” is taken by „do” -> „does”
