Leadership is a process by which an official can direct, guide and influence the conduct and
work of others towards achievement of specific objectives in a given circumstance. Leaders are
the ability of a manager to induce the subordinates to work with certainty and energy. It is also
the possibility to influence behavior of others. It is additionally characterized as the ability to
influence groups of people towards the acknowledgment of an objective. Leaders are required to
create future vision, and to motivate the organization members to need to accomplish the vision.
This essay will discuss how USP workers can be motivated, the advantage and disadvantage of
psychological contract of employment and weather it can motivate USP workers or not and the
related examples of pacific island countries.
Motivation in the work environment is characterized as the readiness to apply high levels of
effort toward organization objectives conditioned by the efforts ability to fulfill some individual
needs. USP workers can be motivated is by Create a friendly work environment to its worker,
employees will create a pleasant atmosphere, and will eager to work every day. Secondly,
Encourage team work, is by remove any bureaucracy within the company and create ‘openness’
to new ideas at any level and working together, lastly Create a career path, is When employees
have an idea of what is provided or what are the incentives for USP workers. A psychological
contract can be an unwritten set of agreements between an employee and employer, and it is a
person’s believe and mutual obligation. The advantage of psychological contract is Loyalty;
Loyalty is a huge asset for businesses. At the point when an employee offers dedication to the
organization, it pivots a lot on the psychological contract that exists between both employers and
employee. As long as the agreement is respected by both, loyalty will remain, and will motivate
USP workers because as they will openly communicate and share their opinion of what values
they want to give. Secondly is Empathy; Empathy is characterized as the ability between the two
parties to understand each other. Taking it forward under setting of the psychological contract,
when the employee and the employer can understand each other it makes a positive environment;
one in which employee and employer don't hesitate to bring them full-selves to work. Empathy
will motivate USP workers by making them do their best works, by listening and acknowledge
needs and contribution. The disadvantage of psychological contract is the contract is not in
paper; as mentioned, psychological contract is not documented and not a physical contract. In
fact, some say it is for this reason alone a psychological contract cannot actually be defined as a
contract, this cannot motivate USP workers because the communication they share is not written,
which can be changed in anytime. Secondly is Redundant; there are some people believe that
psychological contract is redundant and complicated, because there are many other ways also to
measure relationship of employer and employees. Some examples in psychological contract that
is relate to pacific island countries are promises over the promotion and salary increase, which
are told by the employer to employee for the promotion an increment on their wage rate.
To conclude, the psychological contract is the duty of both the employee and the employer in
USP. Both have separate duties to make preparations for potential breaches. For the employers,
it's about making sure not to give an inappropriate observation to a worker and to ensure
guarantees are maintained. For the employee, it's about dealing with their desires so difficult
situations or adverse personal circumstances aren’t viewed as negatively impacting productivity
and aren’t seen as a worker “acting out”.
