Incorporated in 1903, the company ranks in the fifth position among the largest auto manufacturers on the globe (Kavanagh, Brigham, & Burton, 2017, p. 7). The company has over the years introduced to the market a range of autos that include both cars and commercial vehicles. Between the years of 1970 and 1980, the company introduced to the market a new model known as the Ford Pinto. This was, however, to be considered and regarded as the rolling death trap in the years to follow. The model gained this description from critics who argued that the company was well aware of the risk that the model posed to its users. According to its design, the model carried a risk of jump shutting the doors and the fuel tank exploding upon impact. This was clear even before the introduction of the model to the market where it was used by the management for approximately two years (Patil, 2015, p. 6).
