The report explores the marketing mix concepts used by General Motors and Ford Motor
companies. In every company, the marketing mix is an important element that enables firms to
grow and expand in the market and promotes customer loyalty. It is important to understand the
marketing mix concept, which is crucial for the successful implementation of marketing
strategies. The concept focuses on pricing strategy, product, placement, and promotion. An
appropriate combination of the four elements of the marketing mix can be used by companies to
determine the buying patterns of customers.
The product mainly focuses on the items that a company delivers in the market and the features,
which differentiate it from the rival firms (Young, 2017, p. 8). Price refers to the value of
acquiring the product or service or the cost incurred in the production, marketing, as well as
distribution of the product. Promotion refers to the combination of the marketing campaigns
meant to attract customers to buy the products and services. Place refers to the market where the
product will be made available to customers.
GM and Ford Motor Companies are known to have very strong marketing mix strategies
that make them competitive in the automobile sector. There are various concepts of the
marketing mix, which are considered to be the same in both firms. For instance, with regards to
the pricing strategy, the two firms implement market-oriented pricing strategies as well as
premium pricing strategies (Young, 2017, p. 8). The analysis is carried out on the competitive
prices of the automobiles in the market to reach the appropriate price that will be appealing to
customers, which is regarded as a market-oriented pricing strategy.
GM and Ford Motors implement the premium pricing strategy to enable them to
maximize their profits. The companies set relatively high prices for some of the automobiles,
