SITUATIONAL LEADERSHIP AND TRIBAL LEADERSHIP STRATEGY 2
MGT506 MOD3 Discussion Wk1: Situational Leadership and Tribal Leadership Strategy
It is evident from the film that Peter's New York City firm in the second stage. Under this
stage, the tribes are mainly characterized by apathy as well as a sense of futility. Also, the tribes
do not care about themselves since they are not innovative. Also, the tribes do not hold to each
other since they are accountable to everything they do. Moreover, the tribes do not revel in their
disengagement (Wolff, 2014, p. 6). In the second tribal stage, members of the team only focus on
their lives. Also, team members are deemed to be passively antagonistic since individuals cross
their arms as they make judgments, yet they do not show interests in whatever they do to show
any passion. Individuals in the second tribal stage will make an effort to offer protection to their
team members, especially from the intrusion by the company's management. As such, the tribe is
viewed largely as a gathering of victims and innovation does entirely not exist. Furthermore, in
the second tribal stage, accountability is considered to be very rare.
In the second tribal stage, I can suggest that Peter was better for the assignment. For
instance, when working with individuals in the second tribal phase, it is evident that team
members need things that are different. Most of the team members are tired of griping. This is a
stage that is characterized by "my life sucks." As such, the tribes are considered to lack hope in
their endeavours and they also believe that they are not valued by the management for the work
they do (Wolff, 2014, p. 7). Besides, the tribes in the next stage always tend to blame the
management for every problem. However, Peter is better suited to the assignment since members
of the tribe tend to communicate with each other for their core ideas. Meaning that it is a
substantial improvement by believing that the life of the members of the tribe is bad. Moreover,
stage two tribe members can ideally hold to each other and are characterized by the hope of
improvement.
