This paper offers an impact report that discusses the pharmacological needs of a

population of immigrants that is expected to arrive in the county. The county health department

has notified the organization that the immigrants are expected to arrive in large numbers, which

calls for concerns of measures of preparation on the platform of public health in consideration of

the fact that the immigrants will be resettled in the area. The immigrants are coming from areas

of ‘The Pacific Coast’ in Mexico, which is faced with challenges that have adverse impacts on

the health and general wellbeing of the population. This impact report has been generated based

on evidence-based information of research on the most common health concerns associated with

the population and the region they come from. The report focuses on the pharmacological and

medical needs that the population is likely to face once it settles into the area.

The health concerns and issues of the population

The area of ‘The Pacific Coast’ is in the southern parts of Mexico. Most of the people in

the region are poor and live under the country’s poverty line. A major issue of health concern

that is associated with the area is the diabetes disease. In actuality, the disease has been a major

problem for the country in general for some time but it has apparently plagued the southern parts

the most. According to Levaillant, Lièvre, and Baert (2019), over 10 per cent of the people in

Mexico were suffering from diabetes in 2016. The fraction of the population suffering from the

disease has also been increasing with time. Statistics from the regions of the southern parts of

Mexico indicate that diabetes ranks as the third major cause of death for the population (Giacinto

et al., 2016). Statistics also indicate that mortality rates in the country from the disease have

increased by 128% over the past two decades.
