Smuggling and Organized Crime
Smuggling is when the secret possessions enter and exit through unofficial path. The aspect also
results into skipping payment of custom duty. Smuggling activity is taking place due to the geographical
status of nations and the poverty levels. According to Mamazizi and Rostami (2016), the act affects the
economy of a country. It diminishes state tax and obligation receipts. In contrast, this legal act causes
the exit of moneys, massive withdrawal of savings, a rise in joblessness, and reduction of interior
industrial products. Similarly, the existence of border minimarkets, border trading, and exchange
together with exportation of products through these minimarkets will help solve not only border
dwellers' subsistence problems but also, an achievement for the entrance to larger industrial areas.
Despite the challenge of smuggling being known, some of the legal border activities within our
borders include the cross-border mobility of immigrants without legal documents but in demand for
legal survival resources. According to Mamazizi and Rostami (2016), some individuals may tend to work
in companies without proper working papers and drug trafficking. This is among the few activities
happening in our borders that risk the lives of our fellow citizens. The government needs to step in and
monitor all the events happening within our borders (Novakoff, 2016). This activity hinders the growth
of the legitimate trade within the boundaries.
On the other hand, globalization of organized crime is the increase of the border crime that
affects the international grounds, with the high intake of the senior government officials facilitating the
legal traded of drag trafficking, hidden entry of goods that don’t follow the right channels among others
(Publication info, 2017). This has increased on their association network and the increasing political
stands that support this legal business hence leading to the diplomatic threat of the United States
security. Most of the goods being imported are harmful since most of them are drugs and war weapons
to be used by terrorist groups.
