Importance of Analysis
I chose the mother tongue by Amy Tan. For me I think Amy's purpose was to show her struggles
with her and her mother . It was hard to understand her with her mother's face with her fractured
dialectal. She also spoke different languages with her mother and other people.
The style came off as educational and the tone was informational. I learned that when you come
from a different country and you speak a different language and you have to learn a new one it
can be hard.
It helps me analyze the mother tongue easily because of the step Amy took in her writing. She
made sure to tell her struggle in detail. She even told about a time she worked as a freelancer her
bosses said it was one of the worst ever they had ever seen. But it only made her keep going to
learn and make her English stronger .
Yes, I do think Amy was effective and achieving her purpose. Her purpose was to inform on how
it would be if you move from a different country and learn new language and how difficult it
could be but Amy wouldn't trade that for nothing because in the end it made her stronger. I think
Any Tan can be for anyone because it about overcoming and making what you have work and
not giving up.
