History, Nature and Services by the Company
Over the years, data collected by businesses for operations has hugely increased. Data
analysis has become a very important tool in business assessment and growth. This has
necessitated the need for bigger and more secure storage spaces for businesses. Cloud computing
has increasingly helped solve this problem. This is because it offers businesses large amounts of
storage space that is secure and can be easily accessed. Unlike physical storage, cloud computing
is not prone to physical damages such as fire, water, or theft and can be easily upgraded without
interrupting business operations. On noticing this new trend and business niche, Derrick Hill left
his IT operations administrator job to start his own company, Peninsula Cloud Computing
Limited. The company commenced operation in March 2011, with Derrick being the first
employee of the company as he started the business at his own home before he could afford an
office. He rented cloud storage services from Dropbox to provide his first clients with cloud
computing services. In about six months he was able to use the money from his first clients to
expand his business. Thus, in September 2011, Peninsula limited changed its headquarters from
Derrick’s residence to Austin, Texas. At the same time, Derrick hired his first five employees
whose tasks were to maintain business operations, marketing, and handling of client issues.
Over the years, the company has grown to incorporate international clients. The business
now has its cloud servers which are located remotely in six different cities in the world to ensure
integrity. The business has grown to have 250 employees, with offices in five cities, three in the
United States and two in Europe. All activities are managed centrally from the headquarters. All
five business units are expected to consult from Austin, which remains its headquarters, before
