Introduction
Every organization relies on its decision-making process to make strategies to see the
business attain its success and objectives. It is not advisable to have the manager himself or
herself as the sole decision-maker in the business. It is critical to have everyone in the business
on the decision-making table (Bruine, Parker, & Fischhoff, 2020). Any organization needs to
adopt proven methods and models to ensure that the decisions made are sound and capable of
solving the organization's problems in its different departments. Therefore, this paper explores
three key models organizations can embrace to improve their decision-making processes.
Three Key Concepts in Organization and Administrative Theory
Organizational decision-making is often multi-faceted. Due to the many processes and
organizational departments required to identify and solve an occurring problem, it is of essence
to employ both the Carnegie and the incremental process model in decision making. Also, when
the existing problem can be numerically analyzed, the management approach model can
therefore be employed to provide highly accurate solutions. This presentation primarily focuses
on the Carnegie model, the incremental process, and the management science approach in
organizational decision-making. The presentation also looks at how the three decision-making
models can be used to benefit an organization wholesomely.
Carnegie Model
A serious flaw has marred organizational decision-making. Daft (2004) reveals that
before the development of the Carnegie model, it was assumed and accepted that organizational
decisions were at the top level of management. The flaw in the thinking occurred as this form of
decision-making rationalization clearly left out the roles of the many organizational departments
