Kudler Fine Foods (KFF) is a fast growing gourmet food store in the California
area; KFF has stores in LA Jolla, Del Mar, and Encinitas. Kudler Fine Foods success
revolves around superior customer relationships and minimal competitor presence.
Future growth plans are anticipated in the surrounding California areas. A company
website is scheduled to launch within the next year. The addition of a website will help
boost company profits and growth. In order to meet project customer orders, KFF will
need to update many of the stores operating systems. An update to Kduler Fine Foods
networking and ordering systems will ensure the best customer satisfaction available
while minimizing profit loss.
Ordering
Many of the current store operations are paper based. Restocking and ordering
supplies is conducted manually by a store manager at each location. A purchase order
form allows each store to restock depleted items. Kudler Fine Foods should update their
ordering capacity by setting up accounts with online supplies. A more efficient ordering
system would allow Kathy Kudler, business owner, to better forecast her inventory.
Kathy has experienced some problems in the past with her current forecasting
methods. Spartan Stores, a grocery distributer, recently converted to SofTechnics
Perpetual Inventory and Computer Automated Ordering. “According to the company, the

SAF SuperStore application automatically considers movement, price, promotions,
seasonality, and other external factors in creating a single, unified forecast for the store /
SKU (Wireless News, ¶ 7, 2008). Using an automated ordering and tracking system
would save money and ensure Kathy meets her 95% customer service level.
Communication
The addition of a company website will help keep the public more informed and
expand store clientele. A company website will expand advertising to reach a much
broader consumer base. Company information such as history and focus can help
establish relationships with prospecting clients. Company websites contribute to public
retention and provide important resources concerning events, news and company
statistics. I believe Kudler Fine Foods should outsource the development of the
company website. “Outsourcing the company website development allows companies to
take advantage of individuals who alone are experts at one or two pieces of the puzzle
but working as a team have the experience to provide you with a comprehensive
solution” (Gunther, p. 10, 2008). Modern full-featured websites involve multiple
technologies that can be difficult for a small group of people to develop (Gunther, 2008).
Intranet
Kudler Fine Foods has a well developed Intranet site. The site keep employees
informed of company issues, statistics and current developments. KFF’s intranet site
also creates an environment where Kathy can monitor company progress. The use of
the intranet has proven to be and efficient method of sharing information among Kudler
Fine Food stores. The intranet provides the entire Kudler Fine Foods staff with up-to-
