the increasing trend of collaborative partnerships among supply chain partners. This paper
presents an integrated approach for manufacturing and distribution networks within the supply
chain system of a global car company. The paper shows that the integration of manufacturing and
distribution networks creates the environment for effective planning of many components and
execution/follow-up of those plans. These components include materials, resources,
operations/activities, suppliers and customers. The main features of the integration include
component integration at individual networks via use of a central warehouse. This integration
reduces various interfacing steps between partners and enables representations of relationships
(component precedence, parent-component and component-component).
Supply chain management links all the supply interacting organizations in an integrated
two way communication system to manage high quality inventory in the most effective and
efficient manner so as to provide value to the consumers. Supply chain management is an
inclusive function and needs all the related functions and departments to perform their respective
tasks efficiently. Any failure from any related department and functions results into non-
performance of the supply chain management function. The supply chain includes internal
stakeholders as well as external stakeholder such as supplier. It is imperative for both to perform
efficiently. The inclusion of supply management and suppliers into the process would result into
efficient performances as the co-ordination between various stakeholders would increase and
they would be able to understand the needs and capabilities of each other as well as respective
bottle necks in all the functions with which the company will be able to solve all the challenges
for the supply chain management. Supply chain leadership includes activities that link suppliers
and customers downstream and upstream, where suppliers link to customers that become
suppliers for other customers until the final product is produced for the final end user (Burt et al.,
