WEEK 6 BLOG 2
Social work interventions are activities that are used to change a given situation in a
client’s life (Birkenmaier & Berg-Weger, 2018). An example could be the provision of shelters
for the homeless and counseling services for the mentally and emotionally distraught. One
intervention challenge is insufficient funds for implementation. An example of this is when say
there is a need to build homes for the homeless and the funds provided are not enough to meet
the desired quality. This means that the clients end up living in compromised and low-quality
shelters that end up contributing so little to their wellbeing. A perfect example is having clients
live in single-roomed houses that have no privacy in terms of silence and interference by
neighbors. Such a condition is not good for those with mental health problems as this
interference could aggravate their condition or most likely slow down the healing process.
Another challenge with intervention is the lack of enough professionals for some interventions
such as in-home assistance and medical assistance. This makes it difficult for all clients to
receive the intended quality and form of care which may lead to unexpected negative variations
in their healing times.
To address intervention in my field education experience, some action plans I might take

best quality interventions like housing so that the best outcomes are guaranteed. It is also
important to give a true budget representation of some interventions to see to it that they receive
the deserved amount of funds to ease the implementation process. The problem with the lack of
professionals can rarely be solved in the short term but can be solved in the long term by creating
awareness of the need for more professionals in the field to make not only the intervention
implementation phase easier but also all the social work phases/stages. Clients that need medical
and therapeutic attention should not be made to wait for abnormally long periods before
