John Singleton and The Application of Auteur Theory
Introduction to Auteur Theory
The film is a crucial part of art where directors play a significant role in selecting
characters to create various filmmaking aspects. Since directors are essential parties in making
films, it is appropriate to analyze films through the director's eyes and ideas when creating a
film. Thus, the use of auteur theory derived from a French word auteur to mean author, argues
that the director of a movie is considered the author. The auteur theory was formed to analyze
stylistic and thematic elements used by directors in a film. The idea mentions directors as solely
responsible for the failure or success of a movie. However, auteur theory is not accepted globally
