Introduction
In order for a company to operate efficiently, it requires that a thorough analysis of its
operations be carried out. This help the company maintain a competitive advantage over its
competitors. One of the analysis tools mostly deployed is the SWOT Analysis. This paper is
going to deploy the SWOT Analysis tool to Walmart company, currently ranked number one
on the fortune global 500 list. Walmart is a well-known global number one retail company
founded in 1962 by Mr. Sam Walton. It was merged to Walmart stores Inc. seven years after
its founding. Walmart had its initial public offering, IPO, thus being authorized to be public
traded on the New York Stock Exchange in 1972 (Marcilla 2014). It has stores globally
including parts of Asia and Africa. Walmart’s main business strategy entails selling its
product to customers at the lowest possible price. With that regard they are able to live up to
their goals of allowing their customers to save money and also lead better lives. In addition,
they are also inclined towards ensuring zero wastes through use of environmentally friendly
and re-usable packaging. There main competitive advantage is being able to sell to their
customers at a very low price. The following sections are going to carry out a SWOT
Analysis with thorough evaluation done to its strengths and weaknesses.
