Outline a roadmap for conducting research in the University Library, similar to
the one in the textbook appendix.
The first thing that needs to be done is opening up the University of Phoenix web site. When that
opens then look for the link to the ‘library’ and click on it. The next step is to click on the
University Library link this will take you to the data bases located within the library. Once there
you the choice of choosing one of the 14 data bases, however the most common one that I use is
the ‘Article Data Base--Major.’ Clicking on this data base will take you to a selection of three
data bases used for researching information; this is where I generally spend most of my time.
Here you will have your choice of EBSCOhost, Gale PowerSearch or ProQuest, while all three
are very helpful I tend to use EBSCOhost the most. Since most of the papers require a peer-
review citation this data base works out perfectly. So click on this link and you will be taken to
the page where you are required to enter your search parameters. By typing in only a word or a
few words you will receive a lot of articles, so to reduce this the best way to to search by
complete terminology and not just by a word. Before hitting the search button, make sure the
‘Scholarly (Peer Reviewed) Journals’ box is checked. This will ensure the sites ability to find the
article needed if a peer reviewed article is required. Once an article is found that can be used this
site helps with the citation as well, just click on the tab that says ‘create citation’ and there you
go a complete citation ready for your paper. For any help one might need to take the tutorial in
order to learn their way around; however one can always just click on the ‘Ask a Librarian tab to
get help.
