Option #1: Case: Using Tableau to Perform Exploratory Analysis
Introduction
The paper is an explanation of the lab 4-2 involving four parts, namely, identify the
question, master the data, perform exploratory analysis and communicate results. A tableau is a
tool widely used in many industries for data analysis and visualization. It is easy to use in
performing tasks such as comparing data, analyzing and sorting. It can accept data from different
sources such as Excel, Access, SQL etc. The laboratory objectives are to identify appropriate
questions, load data into Tableau for analysis, analyze data with data visualization and
communicate data with a digital dashboard. We will use an excel data file with three tables to
answer questions related to the number of products sold. The question is identifying the amount
of each product sold overall. The first step is to extract the data from the excel file and transform
and load into Tableau. The tables and fields are as shown in the UML diagram.
