WRITING RESEARCH PAPERS 2
Writing Research Papers
After reading through the PowerPoint presentation and watching the videos, I have
gained a lot of knowledge on writing research papers. I now understand that a research paper
should enable the researcher to share the knowledge gained about a particular study area. It can
also be used to inform the public about an important scientific activity. Significantly, one needs
to explain the context of the study clearly. This entails the relevant literature, the methods used
for research and analysis, the study's findings, and the conclusion and further research that may
be needed.
I have also learned to include a thesis statement at the end of the introductory paragraph.
Importantly the thesis statement is used summarizes the main points in the essay, and it guides
the reader from the start of the essay by providing them with the main ideas and supporting
points of the essay. From the videos, I now comprehend that the thesis statement is the paper's
main idea as it determines how the rest of the paper will flow.
Another vital concept I have learned is that there are critical elements that should be
considered when writing a research paper. For instance, coherence is an essential factor in
ensuring that every section of the paper is logical. Paper needs to be adequately organized, and
relevance is also a factor that ensures that the readers' information provides them with a relevant
understanding of the study. The final factor to consider is clarity, which entails making sure that
every part of the paper is easy to read
I still have some questions on research papers, like the best way to balance my ideas and
the outside sources. I would also like to know which is the better choice between directly quoting
sources and paraphrasing them. Overall, I have gained a lot of knowledge on how to write
research papers.
