TREE TRIMMING PROJECT 2
Tree Trimming Project
Is Wil over, on, or below cost and schedule? Is Wil using earned value?
From the case study, I can argue that Wil is on schedule because five days later; he could
complete shearing 6000 trees as he observed. Therefore, calculating the amount of work done for
the first five days, then it is calculated as the number of trees sheared divide by the total number
of trees to be sheared by multiplying by hundred to find the percentage. This will be 6000
trees/total number of trees 24,000=0.25 multiplying by 100%= 25%. It means that the amount of
money to be paid for shearing 6000 trees is 0.25 ×$30,000= 7,500. Seven thousand five hundred
are determined by multiplying the amount payable for the work by 0.25 or 25% of $30,000.
However, this case indicates that Wil is using earned value. The earned value suggests assessing
the performance of the current project through comparisons of the planned amount of work, time,
and cost with the amount of work completed so far (Gray et al., 2008). This strategy indicates
that the scheduled project and when the outcome is positive imply being on schedule, but it
shows a negative result when behind schedule.
How can Wil set up a scheduling variance?
The scheduling variance should involve the budget cost and the work performed,
subtracting the work schedule's budgeted value (Larson & Gray, 2018). In this case, the
completed job's budgeted cost is 7,500, which means the schedule variance will ($30,000-
$7,500) = $22,500. Therefore, Wil will set the schedule variance by subtracting the actual budget
cost for the work from the cost budgeted for the work scheduled.
Do you agree or disagree, and why
I agree because the case provides the steps and the relevant explanation that proofs Wil is
on the cost schedule. I agree with the steps and descriptions that Wil is on the schedule through
