Group dynamics
Group dynamics is a system of behaviors and psychological processes occurring within a social
group (intragroup dynamics), or between social groups (intergroup dynamics). The study of
group dynamics can be useful in understanding decision-making behavior, tracking the spread of
diseases in society, creating effective therapy techniques, and following the emergence and
popularity of new ideas and technologies. Group dynamics are at the core of understanding
racism, sexism, and other forms of social prejudice and discrimination. These applications of the
field are studied in psychology, sociology, anthropology, political science, epidemiology,
education, social work, business, andcommunication studies.
Group cohesiveness
When discussing social groups, a group is said to be in a state of cohesion when its members
possess bonds linking them to one another and to the group as a whole. Although cohesion is a
multi-faceted process, it can be broken down into four main components: social relations, task
relations, perceived unity, and emotions.

A leader as the word stands is someone who leads others. He should have a vision, commitment
and drive to achieve the goal of the group. The leader must motivate and inspire confidence in
the members of the group.
• The leader must be flexible, adaptable and should be capable to face all types of situations
including setbacks, challenges and failures in a calm and cool manner.
• He must be able to extract work from each member of the group after assigning a particular
task according to the individual’s capacity as it may differ from person to person.
