Question 1
The livings are so afraid of the dead because, according to many traditions, the dead has a
lot of influence on the living even from beyond. For instance, according to the traditions of the
Navajo tribe of the Native Americans, the ghost (chindi) of the dead may come to avenge some
of the wrongs done to them (Native Americans, 2020). As such, it is very dangerous to have any
type of contact with a chindi. Getting in contact with a chindi can cause great misfortunes or
even sicknesses, and they are therefore avoided at all costs. The Aborigines believed that the
spirits are sometimes evil, and they could come back to the living and harm them. In the present
culture, people are so afraid of the dead as it exposes them to their mortality and makes them see
death's reality.
Question 2
Hindus and Buddhists believe in reincarnation, that is, the soul of a person who has died
is reborn in another person. This concept differs from some tradition's ideas on death; for
example, the Australian Aborigines believe that when a person dies, they go to the world of the
dead where they are united with other people as well as all the living creatures. According to the
Navajos, when a person dies, the spirit is guided to the underworld, where they continue with the
lives they had started while they were alive (Native Americans, 2020). Christianity, Muslim, and
Jewish religions believe in life after death. And as such, there will be a judgment day, for
instance, according to Christianity and Islam, where all people will be judged according to their
lives while alive. As such, people strive to live more ethical lives as governed by the teachings
from these religions' books. The three religions believe in life after death, and they are similar in
the fact that they all believe in the judgment day. Every person will be judged according to their
