Modern stadiums are designed in such a way that they act as more than playing fields and
spectating grounds. Modern sports facilities have pressrooms, cafeterias, offices, food vendor
areas, sports gear storage rooms, locker rooms, and physical therapy regions. Therefore, for
sports events to run smoothly, sports facility managers become a crucial part of the sports
operations. A sports manager is responsible for the administration of the day-to-day events of the
sports facilities (Fried, 2020). Thus, they organize events that are to take place in the facility,
partake in the facility’s planning, and deal with staffing needs.
An athletic Maintenance, supervisor Grounds/Field manager is required in Boston
College. Among the basic requirements stated for the job were posing excellent written, verbal,
and public relation abilities, solid mechanical skills, and machinery troubleshooting abilities, and
the skill and experience to mark and paint as per the NCAA athletic field requirements.
Additionally, the college preferred that suitable candidates have experience in the maintenance
of playing surfaces and athletic stadiums as well as the capability to manage and contribute to
multiple crews and projects in a manner that is safe and productive (Indeed, 2020).
Though placed under basic requirements, the ability to have excellent written, verbal and
public relation skills are very vital for any sports facility. Effective communication abilities are
essential as they lead to success in marketing or public relations. Effective marketing writing that
is concise, clear, and error-free enhances marketing success and public relations.
Consequently, having public relations skills such as speaking skills, delivery skills such
as maintaining eye contact and compelling speeches are important as they assure clients that their
needs are understood and responded to efficiently. Therefore, this is a basic skill necessary to all
