Answer to Original Question
The gods and goddesses that are described in the old myths are very much similar to the
human in many of their traits, characteristics and the behavior. To me these are the heroes in the
history that are used by the teachers or the leaders to teach us how to do certain things and follow
them because they did the similar things perfectly (Dundes, Alan, 2011). But they were quite
comparable with men in many of their traits, behavior and characteristics and also differ in
some of their abilities that made them gods or goddesses for the people. For example the Hermes
was emotional like human and also had anger but he was different from human as her can fly
anywhere with his winged feet and with a good speed (Dundes, Alan, 2011). This quality of his
makes him god for the Greek people because this a extra-ordinary thing that a normal human
cannot do. Similarly there are many other gods or goddesses who are similar as the men and
women but they have one or more things that are extraordinary and the normal people don’t have
them. It is very important that there should be some similarities and some differences to make
them as ideals for the people because in either case people will not believe in them (Dundes,
Alan, 2011).
