GLOBALIZATION AND INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY 2
Globalization and Information Technology
Globalization involves the speedup of exchange and movement all over the planet. Some
of the speedup elements include information, technology, labor, and products across national
borders and culture. Therefore, an increase in globalization increases the level of dependence of
nations, which is influenced by cross border trade (Rodrik, 2018). For most corporates,
globalization plays a role in creating a platform to gain a competitive advantage. The level of
free trade determines the success of globalization.
In the last few decades, technology has significantly impacted the global economy. This
has led to the transformation of most businesses in the market place. Information technology has
helped to lower the operating cost of business. Technology has led to robotic systems
development, which only needed a few people for technical control. Information technology has
also led to the development of business analytics, which is vital in business transactions
(Kasemsap, 2016). For example, predictive analytics helps companies to analyze data and predict
important events that the business can take advantage of in the future. This has an impact on both
consumers and producers. For example, producers can predict the demand hence avoid
overproduction while consumer satisfaction is improved in terms of quality of goods and service
provision. Another role is fostering innovation in smart applications, wider information
distribution, faster processing, and improved data storage (Kasemsap, 2016). Through such
innovation, businesses are able to run more efficiently. Information technology also plays a role
in improving decision making. For the global economy to make effective decisions, there is a
need for adequate information that provides enough insight into the problem. Through this, the
supervising team can develop several solutions to a problem and increase the effectiveness of the
alternative decision implemented to mitigate the issue.
