1. What is a GDP and what does that mean?
According to Investopedia (, the gross domestic product also known as the GDP is the
market value of all finished goods and services produced within a country. GDP broadly
measures the overall domestic production of a country within a specified period. The GDP of
a country serves a key role as an economic indicator of the economic performance of a
country. It is used to measure the economic growth rate of a country too.
2. What is BIM and what does that mean for the Construction Industry?
According to the NBS (2016), building information modelling (BIM), it the process
through which information on a construction project is created and managed throughout the
project’s lifecycle. The building information model produced by the BIM process is
essentially a digital model containing the description and property of every aspect of the
building.
Through BIM, the construction is going through a digital revolution, evolving into a
team-oriented information sharing model. BIM makes it possible for every industry player in
the construction industry to access up to date information on every aspect of the building
from a central location. This integration of all aspects of construction into a central model
helps to manage the project effectively, reducing risks that may arise due to any
discrepancies.
3. How are drones used in Construction?
Drones are used in construction project for various of applications. One of the major
uses of drones in construction sites is conducting areas surveys and mapping. Drones are also
used to carry out aerial site reviews and for permanent record keeping of construction
progress and remote viewing. Drones are also used to measure excavation depths, material
stockpiles. They are also used to carry out site inspections at locations that are either difficult
for humans to access, or at dangerous heights.
