Historically, women in workplaces have been earning significantly less while executing
similar tasks as their male counterparts in their respective workplaces. The pay disparity is even
higher among women from minority communities. Multiple factors contribute to pay
inequalities, including the work value determination methods, segregation, stereotypes, and
work-life balance. The payment disparities usually may reduce workplace productivity,
cooperation, and morale (Breza et al., 2016). Pay equity refers to equal pay according to work
value and is a vital element that increases workplace productivity.
Pay equity has been a controversial subject in specific fields. For instance, in the sports
sector, American female athletes have been demanding equal pay over the years. The American
national women’s football team has outperformed their male counterparts perennially yet still
receives lower wages. The associations have a moral obligation to ensure equal pay but have to
consider the output. The primary reason behind the payment disparities is the output quality and
the amount of income the sport generates (Archer & Prange, 2019). Male athletes tend to attract
larger audiences than their female counterparts; hence, the sport generates more income among
men than among women, causing payment inequalities. Various factors may serve as
benchmarks for work quality and output, including the revenue generated and the client
attraction rates.
Various factors contribute to wage discrimination in organizations. Corporate
organizations that comprise mostly men usually tend to pay male employees more than women.
Motherhood also contributes significantly to the wage disparity. Studies show that women with
