Introduction
Education is considered a significant pillar that constitutes individuals’ success in life as
well as the economic development of the country. In this case, developed countries have invested
heavily in the education sector to ensure that students can access quality education within the
country. however, there exist significant similarities and differences in the education system,
quality of education, and mode in which students are educated. This paper presents some of the
existing similarities and differences in the quality of education between South Korea, Finland, and
the United States. Being among the top 40 most developed countries, South Korea, Finland, and
the U.S have invested heavily in the education system.
Similarities
Finland and South Korea share a similar ideology that education plays an integral role in
elevating the country out of economic misery. Both countries have invested heavily in education
to ensure that their citizens access quality education. The two countries are believed to have shared
common similarities by being regarded as countries with the most terrible education system in the
past 50 years. During the Korean War, the South Korean education system faced devastating
impacts that led to economic depression with over 78% of citizens being illiterate (m.nurilloeva,
2018). Finland also faced a period of economic misery due to the poor education system, which
led to mass education reforms in the 1960s to save the country from economic depression. The
two countries exhibit the best examples of how the country can elevate themselves from economic
backwardness through education reforms. Besides, being among the most developed countries,
South Korea and Finland has the capacity to offer the best education based on their education
culture, ideologies, and methods of teaching. Both countries share a common education culture
