Although valuable, ethics courses can only provide the decision-making frameworks for
accounting professionals to use in their everyday deliberations. Ethical behavior must be instilled
in the value system of the accounting professional as motivation to fulfill his or her chief duty,
which is to serve the public. In order for ethical behavior to be facilitated, one should seek out an
ethical employer that enforces a code of conduct and surround him or herself with associates of
the same ethical mindset. Accounting associations also assist professionals in the enforcement of
industry laws, by providing a support system.

analysis and the philosophical approaches to ethical decision making frameworks were
developed to assist professionals in suspending judgment while considering all stakeholders
perspectives before rendering a decision.
