Greeting (Salutation Examples)
Dear Congress,
I am writing this letter to express my concern about climate change, its threats to our people, our country, our
future, and possible solutions to curb the situation. I believe climate change is one of the most severe problems
affecting the world today; however, it receives minimal attention. I understand that the world is experiencing
multiple challenges, especially with the current pandemic. However, I believe this can be the appropriate time
to take decisive actions. The state needs leaders who acknowledge climate change as a reality and take
measures, and if you cannot stop the threat, at least slow it down.
You may wonder why climate change is such an essential element to me and why I perceive it requires urgent
attention than other issues that seem to be more serious. For that, you may want to evaluate the consequences
climate change is having and will have in our nation and globally. Scientists across the world support my claim
asserting that climate change is rapidly occurring, unlike previously predicted. Ice is melting worldwide as
reported, the Arctic sea ice record minimum of recently broken. Already there is global warming, which causes
extreme weather conditions. Hence, climate change poises the world on the vulnerability of unimaginable
destruction, and we only have a few years before climate change becomes unmanageable and irreversible. The
responsibility the Congress and other international leaders bear at this phase is immense. Future generations will
always look back at your leadership as those who either acted or ignored the signs when prevention of adverse
consequences were still an option.
Understandably, there is a limitation to what the U.S. can undertake at the global level; nevertheless, there is
plenty of what we can do at home, practices that we regularly overlook. I would like information on what the
government is planning to reduce emission from vehicles. To ensure a secure future, foremost, we need policies
that direct a country away from fossil fuel sources. Congress should be persuasive in pushing for renewable
energy and investing in energy-efficient appliances to promote an energy system that is not a threat to human
health alongside the environment. I urge you to take heed of the current changes and take emergency action
now before we only remain with regrets. Lack of any practical efforts will be unforgivable in days to come by
future generations.
Best Regards, (Closing Examples)
