Hugo Boss was founded in 1923 in Metzingen. Initially, it concentrated on the production
of uniforms, raincoats, overalls, and work clothes. In 1933, the company embarked on uniform
production for Hitler Youth, Wehrmacht, and German stormtroopers. Hugo Boss relied on forced
laborers from Poland to improve his firm’s production capacity. After Boss died in 1948, the
organization focused on the manufacture of uniforms for police and postal workers. The firm
manufactured its first men’s suits in 1953. Currently, the company is regarded as the largest
producer of women’s and men’s clothing. Hugo Boss AG has different divisions, including Hugo
Boss USA, HB Textile Industry, Hugo Boss Industries, and Hugo Boss headquarters (Hugo
Boss, 2020). Its products are Boss Golf lines, casual Boss Sports, Baldessarini, Boss, and Hugo.
Moreover, it designs, licenses, and distributes fragrances and accessories. In the late 1990s, the
organization developed its first line of women’s wear. The Marzotto family currently owns the
firm.
